Appreciating ourselves

I believe one of the reasons we experience low self-esteem is because we forget how totally awesome we are. In Teal Swan’s video How Do I Discover Self Worth?, she suggests setting an intention to look for things we appreciate about ourselves. Continue reading “Appreciating ourselves and others”

Practicing Gratitude

“I am happy because I’m grateful. I choose to be grateful. That gratitude allows me to be happy.”
– Will Arnett

Practising gratitude is a great way to achieve Happiness. As my friend and previous life coach Katrina Love once said to me, “You can’t be in fear and gratitude at the same time.” When we practise gratitude on a regular basis it helps us reprogramme our brain. The more we practise gratitude, the more we will find that our brain starts automatically noticing things we can be grateful for.

Practising gratitude also helps us get what we want. We start focusing on what we have got, instead of what we haven’t got. When we focus on what we’re grateful for, the universe gives us more of the same.

It can also be helpful to be grateful for anything we’re finding difficult in our life. For example, if we are unhappy at work, focusing on the good things about our job can help us to reframe things and see things in a more positive light. There is nearly always, if not always, something to be grateful for. If nothing else, we can be grateful for the learning experience.

Since the beginning of this year I have been practicing gratitude more consistently. I’ve been writing down what I’m grateful for and what I am proud of in my journal. I have really noticed an improvement in my levels of Happiness.

Overcoming Overwhelm

How to Overcome Overwhelm

Overcoming overwhelm has been a challenge for me, but I’ve really started to manage this more effectively lately. When I feel overwhelmed, it manifests as brain fog, paralysis, headaches, and more. I feel that I have so much to do but I can’t do anything because my brain has stopped working and my head hurts so badly. It is debilitating. Sometimes I just sit at my desk crying.

One of my previous managers suggested I might have ADHD because overwhelm is one of the symptoms. I then went onto see a psychiatrist who diagnosed me with ADHD. He said that when people come to him with overwhelm it’s usually a symptom of either ADHD or Autism. In my case he diagnosed me with ADHD.

I chose not to take medication because I feel I can manage the symptoms and the overwhelm with my Happiness practices. In this article I share my tips on overcoming overwhelm.

Manifesting Miracles

Since studying the writing of Marianne Williamson and later A Course in Miracles, I have become accustomed to manifesting miracles.

My most recent experience of manifesting a miracle was this weekend. On Friday morning I sat down to write some fiction. I have felt a calling to do this for a while, but I’ve been procrastinating. My plan was to spend all day Friday, and possibly Saturday, working on a story that’s been brewing in my mind. I thought I might be more motivated if I made it fun, so instead of sitting indoors at my laptop, I sat in the garden with a coffee, a new notepad, and my purple fountain pen.
