Second in a series of posts to increase confidence and self-esteem
As part of my daily prayers and rituals I set an intention to remember I’m a Freakin’ Goddess. Throughout the day I visualise myself stepping into my power and imagine my guides, guardians and angels surrounding me; protecting me and guiding me in all that I do. It is an incredible feeling. I set an alarm on my phone that says, “Remember you’re a freaking Goddess!” as an extra reminder. Sometimes I even sing, “Remember You’re a Goddess” to the tune of ‘Remember You’re a Womble”, which my partner Andy, aka Mr Sexy Pants (MSP), seems to find amusing.
Brene Brown says “Don’t shrink. Don’t puff up. Stand your sacred ground.”
Ask yourself, What does my higher self or inner Goddess look like? What does she do? Show up as her.
It’s also good to have a power move or moves. My personal favourites are throwing my hands in the air or punching the air and shouting “yeah baby” or standing in Wonder Woman pose (standing with my hands on my hips). If you’re public speaking or called to speak in a meeting, in your head say “yeah baby” and imagine yourself punching the air just before you speak. If possible, find somewhere you can stand in a power pose for two minutes prior to giving a speech or attending an important meeting or interview.
Social Psychologist, Amy Cuddy suggests standing in Wonder Woman pose for two minutes helps to increase confidence in stressful situations. I stand in Wonder Woman pose for two minutes and recite my affirmations for self-esteem at the same time, to give it extra power.
Last year, our team at work were all invited into a meeting with our Chief Client Officer to justify our performance. When I read the email invitation, I felt instantly anxious. I was close to tears. Then I thought, Hang on a minute, I’m a freaking Goddess. I’ve got this! Before the meeting, I stood in Wonder Woman pose for two minutes. I asked my guides to be with me. The meeting went incredibly well.
I have learned how to invoke my Freakin’ Goddess and improve my self-esteem. I am passionate about empowering other women to do the same.
