In my experience one of the biggest keys to achieving your goals is breaking them down into baby steps. “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase” – Martin Luther King, Jr (paraphrased). The King Center. I am experiencing this myself right now.
I am running a half-marathon in September. When I tell people that they look at me as if I’ve grown two heads and say, “You do know that’s 13 miles, right?” To which I nod and explain that I’m not thinking about the 13 miles because when I do it freaks me out. I’m just focusing on one week at a time. I started the Great East Run outreach programme eight weeks ago. Last week I ran 5 miles. 8 weeks ago, I never would have imagined I could achieve that.
As you may know, I’m currently working on my new business ‘The Happiness Club’. I’m feeling quite overwhelmed when I think of everything I’ve got to do and I keep reminding myself to take baby steps and take one step at a time.
